Question:
I see the outside overall dimensions, but I would like to know once mounted to the ceiling how far does it hang down off the ceiling. My fan vent must clear the full length slide when retracted.

The MaxxAir MaxxShade Roller Shade # MA00-03900 that you referenced hangs down 2 inches from the ceiling it's installed on. As long as there's 2 inches from the top of your slide out and the ceiling it would fit under this.
