Hey Mike! The Soft Start Kit for Coleman-Mach RV Air Conditioners # CM56RR is designed to work with 45000, 47000, and 48000 air conditioners. Based on those numbers I'm assuming you those are 38000 series, but the model number doesn't always line up with the series.

If you can confirm you have the 45000, 47000, or 48000 it will work. Otherwise, I would use the SoftStartRV Soft Start for Single Zone Air Conditioner Setup # SSR54FR which is compatible with those AC units.

What kind of trailer are you setting up?

The Coleman Mach website says the 38000 series replaces the 48000 series. The 38000 series are Quiet Power Saver units. I’m not sure if they already have soft starts or if the “power saver” means soft start or low current components. The amperage draw on startup seems pretty typical to most units.

@MikeR their site also explicitly states these models for the soft start compatibility. Some have said they will work with 38000 but that is not confirmed.

@MikeR Installed mine on a Coleman Mach not sure of the series, more than likely a 4800 as its 15 yrs old now. Easy to wire up and great cs from easy start as I called and talked with the owner. I can power my AC now with my Honda 2000.

@MikeR I checked with Coleman Mach and the 38000 series supersedes the 48000 series and uses a different refrigerant. The units aren’t equipped with soft starts but the CM p/n 1497-3601 or the CM56RR is the correct soft start for these units.

I added the soft start system over a year ago. It has worked great! Besides having an easy start and never seeing the draw from the start up of the ac unit, if you ever go full lithium battery, and enough solar you can run 1 ac unit off batteries alone using the soft start. I liked the soft start so well I purchased the home unit for my home. Runs so much easier.

I bought a 2025 travel trailer that came with the Coleman-Mach 15 38204-069. I've installed 1000W solar, 920Ah lithium battery 3000W inverter Victron components. I purchased the SoftStart prior to buying the trailer thinking I'd need it. Turns out the Coleman-Mach 15 starts the fan first, gets power running, then turns on the compressor. There is no power spike to my system and I have been able to run the A/C for 24 hrs before having to run a generator to pickup the slack the solar couldn't handle. So at the end of the day, I have not installed the SoftStart and it will go on my bench as another lesson to not buy too early :). I am not an electrician or professional in any way, my comments are simply what I observe with my limited knowledge.
