Recommendation to Replace 13,500 Btu Coleman Mach AC on Fleetwood Excursion
Updated 11/05/2019 | Published 11/04/2019 >
Question:
I currently have a 2008 Fleetwood Excursion 40X. It has 2 air conditioner/heat pumps. The part number is 8534D7796, however I understand that has now been replaced by part number 48008-969. These are 13,500 btu units and made by Coleman Mach I believe and are ducted. One of the units has started not working correctly squealing. Both units work off one thermostat located in the front of the unit. Now, would you recommend a direct replacement or an upgrade to a 15,000 unit? What brands would you recommend and are they a direct wire hook-up? I know these are expensive so I will likely replace one soon and probably the other one later as it works well now. Appreciate your help.

If you're needing to replace the AC units anyway, I think it's a great idea to go ahead and upgrade to a 15,000 Btu unit, as it's just going to provide much more efficient cooling for a really comfortable environment. The price difference between the two options isn't too much, either.
To replace your Coleman Mach models the Advent Air # ACCOL150 will work perfectly. This particular unit is specifically designed to replace Coleman Mach brands so it includes the necessary wiring harness for a simple plug-in installation. It also features a start capacitor that actually stores energy so you don't need as much from your batteries or generator when it's time to kick on the air.
I have attached a short video review that you can check out as well.
