Could Short Bed 2020 GMC Sierra 3500 be Used with Reese Goose Box

Question:

I’m sure you guys are tired of these questions. If I remember correctly I read somewhere that GM on their 2020hd’s moved the goose ball socket a couple inches behind the rear axle. If true will this create enough cab to fifth wheel clearance on the 2020 3500hd standard bed with either the Reese Goose Box or the Anderson hitch ? I will be ordering the new 3500hd soon and would rather go short bed. Thanks ,

If the fifth wheel hitch you plan to tow with your 2020 GMC Sierra 3500 has a tapered nose designed for short bed truck clearance then you could get by with a Reese Goose Box like the part # RP85FR.

Otherwise you'd need to use a slider fifth wheel hitch like the B and W Slider Companion part # BWRVK3775 with the standard pin box of the trailer to ensure you have the turning clearance you'll need. Definitely not tired of questions like this though!
