How to Determine Correct Bearings Without The Bearing Numbers
Published 10/23/2019 >
Question:
I do not have the old inner wheel bearing to get the number from, I have the outer. This is a 1971 Sterling boat trailer, with the outer bearing number can you determine the inner bearing size?

Expert Reply:
Sometimes on smaller axles the bearings can be the same for the inner and outer however that is not always the case. I recommend to measure the spindle to determine the bearing. If you can provide me with the number of the outer bearing and the measurement for position C in the diagram I can help you further. I would also need to know the measurement of position B on the diagram as well for the grease seal.
