Troubleshooting Primus IQ Brake Controller that Is Jerking Trailer and Vehicle

Question:
i am towing a float and the electric brakes have been ... bumped? or ? the float is jerking and so is my car. i have a jeep cherokee 2006 and a light olympic 2 horse float. the primus light reads 5 and 00 when stopped. i wasnt towing with horses so i played about with the dial but it didnt change then my friend suggested reversing it for 10 mtrs or so for reset but that didnt help. yes im a female ...stop rollin about on the floor laughing and tell me where i have done.

Since you said the Primus brake controller part # TK90160 was possibly bumped you should check the mounting of the controller as it has to face squarely to the rear of the tow vehicle and has to be at the correct angle to operate properly as well. I attached pictures that shows the correct way the controller has mount for the inertia sensor to function properly without jerking the brakes.
If the trailer is jerking when you aren't applying the brakes of your tow vehicle and you are seeing numbers on the display of the controller at this time that would indicate that you have a short on the red wire of the brake controller to the black wire which is causing the controller to think you have the brakes on all the time and any bump is causing the controller to think you are hitting the brakes.
