Question:
I have a 2018 ram 5500 with a service bed. Empty weight of 15100 pounds. Front axle weight of around 5400 pounds. The right rear has added leaf springs to support the weight of 2500 pound auto crane. I added welder and job box to the left rear. The added weight is around 1000 pounds. Now for the question. Would I be better off adding leaf springs to the left side or adding air bags to the rear on both sides? Im leaning towards air suspension due to possibility of moving things around in truck overtime and I may need further suspension adjustments. Also, what kit would you recommend? Thank you in advance for your help.

Helpful Expert Reply:
Best option will be an air bag kit like the Firestone part # F2404 which is a fit for your 2018 Ram 5500. This gives you ability to get the exact amount of additional suspension support you need on the heavier side instead of adding a leaf which might be too much or not enough with no adjustability.
For a compressor kit you'd then want a dual path kit like the part # F96VV which comes with a heavy duty compressor that allows you to easily add air pressure to each side of the rear suspension independently so that your ride support is exactly what you are needing.
