Question:
Hello, I have ordered and installed 4 bearing sets for 4 hubs, These are the hubs I have rebuilt. 7,000-lb E-Z Lube Axles - 12inch Diameter - 8 on 6-1/2 Item # AKHD-865-7-2-EZ-K. After rebuilding the hubs, I am curious how many ounces of grease each hub requires. These hubs have a fairly large volume inside and the void must be filled in order to push grease out through the outer bearing. The bearings are already packed.

Expert Reply:
There is not an exact amount of grease per each hub for part # AKHD-865-7-2-EZ-K but I recommend LubriMatic LMX Industrial Strength Grease part # L11390 which will be more than enough.
First pack the bearings, like you already did. Spread a small amount of grease on the spindle. Insert your bearings and grease seal in the hub and mount the hub on the spindle. You just want to pump grease slowly into the spindle with a grease gun like part # L30200 until you see grease seeping through the outer bearing.
Once grease is seeping through the outer bearing you can replace the washer, spindle nut and retainer. Tighten the castle nut tighten it until hand tight and then back off of it slightly.
