What Lift Kit Can I Use on a 2018 Winnebago 2106 FBS with Diamond Shaped Tandem Torsion Axles?

Question:

I have a 2018 Winnebago 2106 FBS that sits low to the ground and drags going in and out of gas stations etc. I have Lippert Diamond shaped torsion tandem axles. The bolt openings are 9 inches on center. I noticed on your site that you talked to Lippert regarding which lift kit to use. So my questions are...1 can I use the Dexter K71-725-02 kit even though my axles are 3500 lbs, or the LC270682 kit that the Lippert rep suggested to Jon G in response to a question asked by Chad? Is one better than the other? Does the Lippert LC kit have 9 inch on center holes...it does not say on anything I can find. Does it hurt to use a lift kit for a higher rated axle if I used the Dexter over the Lippert? Your thoughts please.

I have a solution for you, but the Dexter # K71-725-02 will not work for your 2018 Winnebago because it is only compatible with side mounted #12 Torflex axles.

To answer your questions before letting you know what kit will work, one kit isn't going to be better than the other, they're simply designed for use with different styles of axles. You also wouldn't want to use higher rated components than the frame and/or axles are rated for since you run the risk of putting unintended stress on those components. I'll use the example of using grade 8 bolts when an application calls for grade 5; it may seem harmless, but the metal that the bolts go into may not be strong enough for the bolts and you run the risk of the bolts tearing into the metal and causing other problems. Also, suspension parts rated for a 5500-7000 lb axle aren't going to create as comfortable of a ride as those designed for a 3500-lb axle.

Now, the good stuff. I spoke with one of my contacts at Lippert and they do not make a tandem axle kit, but he said that you can use 2 sets of the Axle Riser Kit for Single Diamond Axles # LC270682 to accomplish your goal of lifting your Winnebago 2106 FBS. This kit has bolt openings 9" apart, center on center, to match the bolts on the frame of your Winnebago.
