Ladder Rack or Roof Rack To Use with Ski Racks and Cargo Boxes wFolding Hard Tonneau Cover

I have a solution for you, but finding a cargo rack that installs on the bed rails that can also be used with a tonneau cover and vice versa presents a unique set of challenges. Some tonneau covers overlap onto the bed rails (see the attached picture) and you can't use a rail system on a tonneau cover since the rails would need to be drilled into the cover. That really leaves you with 2 options: a roof rack kit that sits on the truck cab, or a ladder rack that mounts on the rails paired with a tonneau that doesn't overlap.

Because it will allow you more flexibility and not limit your tonneau cover choices, I recommend going with a roof rack like the Thule Roof Rack for GMC Canyon Trucks. This mounts on the cab of your truck and the kit uses the Wing Bar Evo Crossbars # TH711420 , Evo Clamp Feet # TH710501 and Mounting Kit # TH145179 . This kit will also allow you to carry most sizes of cargo boxes like the Thule Force XT 22cu/ft # TH6359B and any ski/snowboard racks like the the Thule SnowPack # TH7326 . Going with a cab top roof rack would let you use the BAKFlip MX4 # BAK48120 without any issues.

If you wanted to go with a ladder rack, we have had some customers report that they were able to use a Thule TracRac like the # TH27000XT with their BAKFlip folding hard covers-but some have not had the same luck so I can't recommend this. The only tonneau we can confirm with certainty will work with the TracRac is the BAK Revolver # BAK42VR. When using the Thule TracRac you will be able to mount any size cargo boxes and ski/snowboard carriers as well as carry kayaks and other long items.
