Because the converter box of the 118158 has relays it it, it's not unusual to hear clicking but a loud buzzing noise is not normal. There's two possible causes for the buzzing, and the turn signal issue might or might not be related.

Does the trailer have LED lamps? If so, the # 118158 wasn't designed with LED lamps in mind. The buzzing in this case would be caused by not enough power being drawn through the circuits, which could also be a possible cause of the turn signal issue. A poor ground connection is another possiblility. Make sure the lamps are grounded to the trailer frame or attached to clean metal that's in direct contact with the trailer frame. Also make sure that the main trailer ground is securely made to clean metal.

If you do have LED lamps, installing load resistors like # DI34ZR into the turn signal circuits on the trailer will calm that buzzing down.

If you do not have LED lamps, and the trailer grounds check out okay, the converter is faulty and should be returned/replaced.

Is the buzzing an issue? Would the LED resistance issue potentially cause the unit to fail prematurely?

@Larry It can possible damage the unit over time. That's why I recommended the load resistors like # DI34ZR for Jason. Hope that helps!
