Determining Correct Load Rating for ST205/75R14 Tires on Boat Trailer

Question:

My 19 foot boat weighs 2,825 lbs dry. Fuel tank can hold 40 gallons. The trailer weighs 500 lbs. The trailer is single axle with a bunk bed. Should I buy C or D rated tires. The size of tire is 205/75 - 14. I would like to be able to drive 60 mph on the highway. Thank you for your advise.

For your loaded boat trailer I definitely recommend going with Load Range D tires, as this will provide you with a much more comfortable safety margin. I specifically recommend the Kenda Karrier # AM10235 because of its double steel belts and nylon plies for excellent traction and superior speed rating of 81 mph, letting you travel at highway speeds with ease.

This particular tire has a maximum load of 2,200 pounds at 75 psi. For a single axle boat trailer this would give you a combined load capacity of 4,400 pounds.
