Question:

Hello My 20’ aluminum car hauler has a demco ez latch coupler and when hooked to the ball there is some vertical play. I thought maybe the ball was worn so bought a new one and same thing. It’s the correct size also. Do these couplers wear out or is there supposed to be some vertical up and down play? Thanks

According to the good folks at Demco, you can expect to have as much as 3/4 of an inch of vertical play in a 2-5/16 inch coupler like the Demco # DM15633-81 without having an issue. This is necessary, otherwise you could have problems when trying to hitch up on uneven ground. If you're seeing much horizontal play, that would indicate a problem.
