Why Are Bias Ply Trailer Tires Still Produced?
Published 08/09/2019 >
Question:
why do so many trailer tires still come as bias ply? especially if radials are better?

Helpful Expert Reply:
There are a couple of reasons why folks still use Bias Ply tires like the # AM10002. Bias ply tires have a thicker sidewall, so they are better suited for off-road or agricultural use. At one time, bias ply tires were considerably less expensive than radials of a comparable size and load range, so many folks that don't use their trailers very often still find bias ply tires an attractive alternative and don't see the logic in spending the extra money for radials when in reality any price differential is very small..
