Question:
Vehicle: 2014 VW Touareg R-Line gas. Background: Have a small trailer that I converted the original incandescent lighting to LED. Presently the LED lights on the trailer are not functioning correctly, some lights just flicker rapidly. Question: Will the C51180 brake controller allow the LED lights on the trailer to work correctly without the addition of another accessory? Thank you

Expert Reply:
The LED lights on your trailer flickering is unfortunately pretty common with German vehicles and while there is a solution for this, the Curt Echo Mobile Trailer Brake Controller # C51180 is not going to resolve the problem of the lights flickering.
The Echo has a lot of unique benefits because it is mobile and allows you to just use your smartphone to set up and control the device, but one thing it cannot do is fix LED light flickering.
The easiest thing to do is install Load Resistors # DI34ZR for a quantity of two - on each of the affected circuits on your trailer. This will ensure the lights work as intended while allowing you to use a superb brake controller.
I have added a link to a video review of the Echo for you to check out as well.
