How many inches max can you cut these down to get racks closer to top of trailer

Expert Reply:

The Rack'em Fitz-All Enclosed Trailer Ladder Rack # RA-28 that you referenced can indeed be cut down a bit to bring the crossbars closer to the roof of the trailer. When we installed the system we cut down the support by about 5 inches and this is pretty much the maximum you will be able to trim down without affecting its integrity.

Before any cutting the top of the crossbar measures 17 inches from the bottom of the mounting bracket. I have attached a short installation video that you can check out as well.
