Question:
Is this bike rack sturdy enough to be used on the back of a motorhome.

Expert Reply:
I do have hitch bike racks that will work on the rear of a motor home, but the Kuat Sherpa 2.0 Hitch Bike Rack, part # SH12B, is not one of them. Although the Kuat hitch bike racks are an excellent bike rack, it is not designed for use on the rear of a RV or a motor home .
When a hitch bike rack is designed to fold-up or tilt-away, that design will not allow the bike rack to stand up to the rigors of being on the back of a motor home. A bike rack mounted to the rear of a RV or motor home will be subjected to additional jarring and bouncing that can cause damage to the receiver and possibly loss of the rack and the bikes.
There are only certain bike racks that are rated for use behind a motor home or RV. One of our most popular hitch bike racks that can be used on the rear of a motor home is the Swagman XTC-2 Bike Rack, part # S64670. This is a platform style rack for easy loading and will work with many different designs of bike frames. I am including links to the installation instructions on the Swagman bike rack and a video review of the same bike rack.
I am also including a link to a list of bike racks that can be used on the rear of a RV or motor home.
