Comparing the Trailer Wiring Harnesses for a 2000 Toyota Tundra
Question:
Why does the Reese harness have the second connection at the battery and the Hopkins Harness doesnt?
asked by: Pat N
Expert Reply:
Tow Ready/Reese has determined that the best way to add a harness, # 118367, to a 2000 Toyota Tundra would be to have an additional connector that is circuit protected and grounded up near the battery. This is more like how a factory harness would be.
The Hopkins harness, # 43365, omits that part. The harness still works it is just not as protected as the Tow Ready harness.
If I has to choose between the 2, I would spend a little more and get the added protection of the Tow Ready harness. I have included a link to the installation details for the Tow Ready harness.
