Recommended 7-Way Trailer Wiring Connection For 5th Wheel And Gooseneck Trailers
Updated 05/17/2017 | Published 05/16/2017 >
Question:
I was considering purchasing a 7-way wiring harness/connector for towing the fifth wheel I am in the process of purchasing. At this point, Im confused as to whether or not thats something I would need. From what I understand, it just adds a connection from the tailgate 7-way into the bed. Would I be able to use the tailgate connector for fifth wheel towing? Thanks you in advance

You can use the tail gate 7-way to connect your 5th wheel trailer. Many people will choose to use a wiring harness like the Bargman # 50-97-410 to add that second 7-way to keep a cleaner connection. Having the 7-way in your truck bed allow for easier connection, but also keeps the plug wire from hitting your truck when draped over the tailgate. It is a nice feature, but not a required one.
