Question:

2018 ram 2500 with gooseneck prep. I need to know what options I have for ball height please. I now have the standard Curt C60618 and I need go higher. What are the options for getting a tall ball and how much taller are they? I am towing a 5th wheel with a GN adapter and currently only have 5 inches of bed clearance. I have been told 6 is minimum and I would like to shoot for 7.

The tallest gooseneck ball for your 2018 Ram 2500 with the factory prep package is the B&W Ball and Safety Chain Kit for Ram Underbed Gooseneck Trailer Hitch # BWGNXA2062; you can see the difference in height between this and the Curt Ball and Safety Chain Loops Kit for Ram Underbed Gooseneck Hitch # C60618.

You will need more than 5 inches and if the height of the B&W does not allow you to tow with the proper clearance, or tow level, I strongly recommend switching to a 5th wheel hitch, which will be very easy for you to do with the puck system.

Switching to a proper 5th wheel hitch to tow a 5th wheel trailer is the best option for security and clearance when compared to a gooseneck adapter and the best hitch available is the B&W Companion, which will fit directly in your truck's puck system. You would need the B&W Companion OEM 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ Slider # BWRVK3670 if your Ram was a short bed or the B&W Companion # BWRVK3600 if your Ram was a long bed.
