When we installed the Curt Trailer Hitch # C12115 and the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch # 36538 on a 2014 Chevy Malibu we found the Curt to sit about 1/4" higher but these were on separate Malibu so there could have been slight differences in air pressure for the tires or trim and/or cargo weight that contributed to this. Regardless I recommend the Curt option because of our measurements.
If you don't already have a cargo carrier I recommend the 20x47 Reese Cargo Carrier # 63155 because it has a 3" rise in the shank for more ground clearance plus it has cutouts for you to add a light kit like # 20174 in the event that cargo would cover your tail lights. You will need a lighting kit on your Malibu to activate these. If you would like to add it then please let me know if you have a US or Canadian model and if it is an LTZ or not so I can recommend a kit from the linked selection.
I also recommend using the etrailer Trailer Hitch Accessories Lock # e98879 to lock the carrier to your trailer hitch.
