Question:
we need to buy a set of crossbars for a 2019 outback premium. I like the greater crossbar spread and weight carrying capacity of the Yakima system, as compared to the Thule approach. but I’m wondering: 1 if an older version of the Thule Hullavator 897XT we own can work with the Yakima jetstream bars - which appear to have the same type of T-slot as on the Thule Aeroblades we use on our Forester and 2 If the jetstream bars will work, then can we get by with the 50 inch bars or would we need the 60 inch on the Forester we use 53 inch Aeroblades

Your older Thule Hullavator 897XT will work with the Yakima JetStream crossbars for your 2019 Subaru Outback. The T-slot on the JetStream bars are 1" wide x 1/2" tall, which is actually slightly larger than the T-slot on the AeroBlade bars so you won't have any issues fitting the Hullavator into that T-slot.
As for the length of the bars, I do recommend using the 60" Yakima JetStream Crossbars # Y00426 to ensure you have the needed space to use your Hullavator.
The rest of the parts you need for your '19 Outback are the SkyLine Towers for Yakima Crossbars # Y53TR and Landing Pad 15 for Yakima Control Towers # Y00241. I also highly recommend the Yakima Same Key System (SKS) Lock Cores # Y07204 which will lock the rack to your Subaru's roof and help protect your investment.
I have added links to video reviews for you to check out as well.
