Where Do the Vinyl Pads Go for a Yakima Roof Rack and Q-Clips

Question:

i was jus wondering where do the vinyl pads actually go? On the Q clip on on the actual car? Do I stick them on the clip or do I stick them on the car?

The vinyl pads, # Y8810072, go on the inside of the Q-clips that face the car. They are meant to protect the car from being scratched. You would not want to put the pads on the vehicle because then you would have the adhesive stuck to the paint. I have included a link to a video that may help.
