Why Can't You Back Up with Curt MV Weight Distribution System w/ Sway Control Installed
Updated 05/28/2019 | Published 05/24/2019 >
Question:
I am looking at this product and curious why I cannot back up with this? Os ot just because of the sway control? If so do I have to disconnect the whole setup?

The reason you can't back up with the Curt MV Weight Distribution System # C17063 installed does primarily have to do with the friction sway bar that's attached. The tension that would be applied to the bar when backing up could potentially bend/damage the bar which might also lead to damage on the spring bars. This technically isn't an issue if you plan on backing up in a straight line but since backing up a trailer isn't the easier thing in the world, and weight distribution systems aren't the cheapest, we recommend always disengaging both the friction bar and spring bars before backing up.
Doing this each time before you back up really doesn't take too long and it does allow you to keep the system itself hooked up to your tow vehicle. I have attached the written installation instructions for this particular system along with a short video review that you can check out as well.
