Question:

Ford F-150 5.5 ft bed with factory trifold bed cover I am looking for a bed rack that I can use while the trifold cover is in place and closed. I will consider tall racks that will allow for opening the trifold cover - or - shorter/shallow racks that will not allow for opening the trifold cover. The lip of the inside bed rail to the outside edge of the trifold cover is about 2.25 inches. I prefer black. I plan to primarily use the rack to haul 4 bikes at a time. If you have pros and cons I should consider please let me know.

There isn't an ideal option for your specific tonneau cover. Because the Tonneau overlaps the bed rails, the best option to keep it in place is to use the Saris Traps Fork-Block Bike Carrier Base - Single Track - 47" Long # SATRK14 and then the Saris Fork Mount Bike Carrier for Truck Beds or Traps Track System - Bolt On - 9 mm Skewer # SATR1BLK. or the Saris Traps Fork-Block Bike Carrier Base - Triple Track - 47" Long # SATRK34. This would allow you to secure the track and then remove the other components as needed. This will be the cleanest look but you will need to drill holes in your tonneau.

If you are willing to open the tonneau we have Thule Insta-Gater Pro Truck Bed Single Bike Rack # TH93VR. This will not allow for 4 bikes due to the layout, but you could do two and then use the Swagman Pick-Up Truck-Bed-Mounted 2 Bike Carrier - Locking - Fork Mount # S64702 for the other two bikes.

Finally you can use a roof rack system and bike carriers if desired or a trailer hitch and hitch mounted bike rack.
