Trailer Hitch Adapter to use Thule DoubleTrack Bike Rack

Question:
Thule Doubletrack Pro receiver hole depth. I purchased this bike rack however the instructions say do not use if the distance of the receiver hole is less than 1.5 inches from the end. My 2015 Toyota Highlander 2 inch receiver has the hole only 1 inch from the end, so the bike rack doesn't go into the receiver as much as recommended. Any suggestions? Or do I need to return the bike rack?

I have a solution for you that will allow you to continue to use your Thule DoubleTrack Pro XT Bike Platform Rack # TH92BJ, which does require you have a hitch pin hole at least 1-1/2" from the face of the receiver.
The most cost-effective option is to use the Rockymounts Hitch Extender # RKY10008 which is designed for use with a bike rack so it has the necessary length from the hitch pin hole to the receiver. This extender will work in a 2" trailer hitch, which is the size you should have on your 2015 Toyota Highlander
I do need to mention that the use of this hitch adapter (or any other adapter) does reduce the capacity of the hitch on your Highlander by 50 percent. However, this should not be a factor in your case because the DoubleTrack weighs just 32 lbs and has a capacity of 35 lbs per bike, which means your maximum tongue weight would be 105 lbs. So as long as your current hitch has a tongue weight capacity over 200 lbs, the Rockymounts Hitch Extender # RKY10008 will work for you.

If I have a 2016 Subaru Forester and I am having a hitch installed, What is the best size. Should it be the 1 1/4 inch or the 2 inch?
