Question:
Purchased the Fastaway e2 FA92-00-0450 several months ago. System works great with 2016 Tacoma 4x4 towing a 3900# travel trailer. Issue now is that I am getting a rear bumper with a spare tire attachment limiting the space between the tire and electric jack on trailer. Looked at several hitch extenders and see that the tongue weight capacity goes down 50 making that system not suitable. Trying to avoid getting a beefier WDH just to use a hitch extender. What should I do?

Expert Reply:
Hitch extenders do reduce hitch capacity as you noted. A better option to create space between your aftermarket bumper tire mount and your trailer's electric tongue jack is an extra-long shank for your Fastway weight distribution hitch. This route will not reduce your hitch capacity.
All WD shanks use standardized hole size and hole spacing so any brand of 2-inch shank will work with your Fastway system # FA92-00-0450. I suggest the 18-inch Equal-i-zer shank # EQ90-02-4600 which will give you 10-inches of additional clearance beyond what you have with the standard 8-inch shank that came with your system.
