Is 2014 Honda Odyssey Rated for Use with Weight Distribution
Published 04/04/2019 >
Question:
First off, let me say that your website is unmatched for information regarding towing and accessories required for towing. I have read each and every Q/A related to my Honda Odyssey. I do have one additional question though. In my 2014 Honda Odyssey manual, it states A weight distributing hitch is not recommended for use with your vehicle. An improperly adjusted weight distributing hitch may reduce handling, stability, and braking performance.inch Although Ive seen a WDH recommended countless times for the Odyssey, why would they not recommend one. Is it safe to haul pull a trailer with a WDH? Thanks

We have to always recommend you stick with the vehicle manufacturer when it comes to weight distribution ratings. WD systems are really great but they put quite a bit more stress on the frame and hitch of the vehicle. Heavier duty vehicles it's not a problem but for a lighter duty vehicle you'd potentially bend the hitch or the vehicle frame which would be a big deal.
We have trailer hitches for your 2014 Honda Odyssey that are rated for WD systems like the Draw Tite part # 75270 but you have to also comply with the owners manual. You can also check with a Honda dealer for more info as well.
