Troubleshooting Reese M5 Hitch Head Not Releasing Pins To Remove From Base

Question:
Reese 30922 Elite hitch Trying to remove the pull pins to release the pivoting head from base. Pins will not pull. Tried using a hammer gently but didnt work. I did remove the keeper pins. Any ideas?

To remove the pins on your Reese M5 Series 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch # RP30922 you should be able to easily remove the pull pins, so it sounds like something is bound up. I recommend using some penetrating oil and a rubber mallet to free it up so you can remove the pins without damaging the hitch finish. Tapping on the pins with rubber mallet will also help them vibrate and break loose from whatever is binding.
Once you remove the pins, inspect the head and base to determine what the cause of the binding was before using the hitch again.
