Can Cams on Titan Snow Chains # TC3229SCAM Come Undone During Travel
Published 03/07/2019 >
Question:
I am considering these chains for my truck 06 Dodge Ram 2500 with tire size 305/70 17. This photo does not seem to be what is described in the text of the description. The photo does not look like square links? Also, wondering about the tightening cams...Ive heard they can present problems such as coming undone and loosening the chains while driving. Any problems reported with these types of chains regarding the cams? Thanks.

The Titan Chain Alloy Snow Chains w/ Cams # TC3229SCAM referenced in your question, which are confirmed to fit the 305/70-17 size tires on your Ram, are indeed square link chains. The main picture currently on the page shows a general representation of Titan chains so it doesn't give a clear picture of what these actually look like. I have attached an image below of these chains from when we installed them on a Ram like yours so you can get a better look.
I have also included the full installation video that you can use for reference.
The integrated cam tighteners on these chains allow for an easier installation while also ensuring a tight fit around the tire. If properly installed and tightened there should not be any issue with the cams coming loose during travel. If this happens most likely the chains have not been properly tightened/adjusted or they are not the correct size to begin with for the tire in question.
