Question:
i would like to upgrade from the EZ lube 4400# with 10inch brakes to at least a EZ lube 5200# axle and 12inch BRAKES and springs and good set of bushings for my 2014 XLR 29 HFS,, i have 15inch wheels and dont know if the 12inch drums will fit, ST225/75R 15 E tires and i have had no problems with the 4400# axles but the #s are to close for comfort, i have a dry weight of 7372# and a gvwr 9774, with a tong weight rite at 1200, then the weight of cargo should not exceed 2343#, full load of water at 450#, and behind the rear axle in the toy hauler bay it said 2000# center front, it has a Onan Q 4000 watt generator in the front and the 30 pound bottles, i am carrying a 1400# side by side in the bay, if i put the two axles on a set of LOVE scales i am right at if not over the 8800# over the axles, the #s dont add up on the scales, all my stuff in the camper comes to around 175#, i called forest river engineers and they said the camper would be fine with the upgrade. i dont know how to order the right axles and brakes and springs, any advice would be great, thank

For your 2014 Forest River XLR Hyper Lite TT Toy Hauler, they used Dexter axles with spring center measurement of 68.5 inches and hub face to hub face measurement of 83.5 inches according to my contact at Forest River. When you upgrade the axle capacity, those numbers change too much, so I have another alternative to get you the capacity you are seeking.
My recommendation is to use the Timbren Axle-Less Suspension - Spindle Only - Regular Tires - 5200 lbs # ASR5200S01 which will replace your axles and suspension so no leaf springs are needed. You will need to use a 2 inch square bar (not included) to fit the integrated holes in the assemblies for support if there isn't a cross brace at your axle locations. These spindles will use 12 inch brake assemblies like # 23-458-459 and Dexter Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly - 5,200-lb E-Z Lube Axles - 12" - 6 on 5-1/2 # 8-201-5UC3-EZ.
This will upgrade your suspension and give you EZ-Lube spindles to make maintenance easy and also give you the higher capacity you desire with a custom fit.
