How heavy of a tailgate will this work on? What is the maximum height of a tailgate that this will work on?

In order to determine if the Rackem Double Barrel Trailer Tailgate Assist, part # RA-27C, will work with your trailer, you will need to measure the height and length of the trailer side rails. This unit will work on trailer side rails that are 10 to 15 inches tall, and the tailgate has to be at least 44 inches tall in the upright position.

I spoke with my contact at Rackem and he said the maximum weight the tailgate assist can be used on is 200 lbs, and he said there was not a maximum height.

It will also require a side rail that is at least 54 inches long since the center to center mounting hole length is 52-1/2 inches and the unit is 54 inches long overall. I am including a link to a video of the Rackem tailgate assist being installed on a trailer.

Another option is the Gorilla Lift Tailgate Assist, part # GL1. It fits on trailers with side rails that are 10 to 24 inches tall and tailgates 4 feet to 6 feet tall. The maximum tailgate weight it will work on is 300 lbs.
