Will 16k Fifth Wheel Hitch be Able to Tow 14k Trailer
Published 12/14/2018 >
Question:
Hello I have a 2004 Ford super duty diesel with an 8ft. bed. I need to pull a 37ft. 5th wheel that weighs 14K. Will a 16K hitch work to pull that? Or what size hitch do you suggest for that set up?

Helpful Expert Reply:
Fifth wheel hitches are rated pretty conservatively which means that when picking one out based on capacity you don't have to go overkill with the capacity. A 16k fifth wheel hitch would easily have more than enough capacity for a 14k trailer.
So if you went with the Reese 16k hitch part # RP30047 and the custom fifth wheel rail kit # RP50082-58 for your 2004 Ford Super Duty with a long bed you'd have a really solid fifth wheel towing setup.
