Question:

My 2018 Dodge 1500 came with no towing package, I have ordered a receiver hitch, but want to include a 7 and 4 way light plug. Thank you

The first thing you are going to want to do is check under the rear bumper near the spare tire for a wiring plug called a US Car Connector which you can see a photo of attached for you. If you have this plug then all you will need to install both 4 and 7-way trailer connection points on your Ram is the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness part # C55774.

If you do not have this wiring plug then you will need to hardwire both wiring harnesses into the vehicle's tail lights. In order to do this you will first need a 4-way wiring harness and for that I recommend the Upgraded Circuit Protected Tail Light Converter part # 119178. I recommend this harness because we have found that Tekonsha wiring products tend to be the most reliable.

Then for a 4 and 7-way trailer connector I recommend using the Upgraded Circuit Protected Tail Light Converter part # ETBC7 which will be perfect for you because it comes with everything you need to not only install the 7-way but also a brake controller like the Tekonsha Primus IQ Trailer Brake Controller part # TK90160.
