Is there anyway to lock the ball release lever?

Yes, you can use the Trailer Coupler Lock part # e98888 to prevent the hitch ball from coming uncoupled from the Demco 50-Degree A-Frame Trailer Coupler part # DM16680-52. The lock will install in the pin hole directly below the latch which you can see in the attached photo.
