Replacing Weld-On Coupler with Bolt-On Coupler on Older Winnebago Travel Trailer

Question:
I have an old Winnebago Travel Trailer with a damaged coupler. What are your recommendations? Can I cut off the coupler with a torch and replace it with a bolt on unit?

We have a large selection of A-Frame couplers like what would be on your older Winnebago travel trailer. You can certainly remove your weld-on coupler and replace it with a bolt-on unit, as long as the new coupler's capacity is correct for your trailer and it is the proper size for fitment. I just recommend sanding and painting the tongue after removal. Also just keep in mind that you will need to drill some holes into the tongue so that you can install a bolt-on coupler to replace it.
I have attached a link that will take you to our available selection of bolt-on A-Frame couplers that you can look through. I am not sure what capacity you will need for your trailer, so I just recommend verifying your trailer's GVWR and selecting a unit that matches or exceeds this number.
For example, the Demco A-Frame Trailer COupler # DM14793-81 features a weight capacity of 10,000 pounds. It will use a ball size of 2 inches and it has an overall length of 17-5/8 inches. I have attached a short video demonstration on this coupler that you can take a look at.
