Recommended Keel Roller For Best Weight Capacity on Boat Trailer

Updated 11/05/2018 | Published 11/04/2018

Question:

I have a 26foot boat that needs to be supported in the front at the cross member on the trailer. Right now it just has a keel pad but I would like to change to a roller but want one that is very sturdy and wont bend the roller shaft.

The Yates Keel Roller for Boat Trailers - Super-Heavy-Duty Rubber - 18" Long - 5/8" Shaft # YR18244-165EC is not weight rated. The weight of the boat will actually be on the bracket and the 5/8 inch shaft that runs through the heavy-duty roller.

Your application with the front weight the roller is more likely to bend the longer you make the roller. For instance the 18 inch roller along with the brackets # CE10500G and Roller Shaft w/Cap Nuts 19" x 5/8" # 107-30A will be more likely to bed at the shaft than the 8 inch # CE10403G which also has the 5/8 inch diameter shaft. If you want something in the middle, you can use the CE Smith Deep V Keel Roller Assembly for Boat Trailers - Galvanized Steel and Yellow TPR - 12" # CE10455G. I've attached some videos to assist.
