Recommended Sidewinder Pin Box for 2012 Chevy Silverado with 5.8 Foot Bed and Reese 16K Hitch

Updated 10/08/2018 | Published 10/06/2018

Question:

I have a 2012 Silverado crewcab with the short 5.8 bed with a Reese 16k square tube slider installed. Looking for a Reese Sidewinder for my 2006 Keystone Couger 276EFS. What would you recommend?

For your 2006 Keystone Cougar, I recommend the 5th Airborne Premium 5th Wheel Air Ride King Pin w/ Sidewinder and Turret - 16,000 lbs # RP61422 for the best ride due to the air cushioned pin box to reduce jarring and chucking. If you just want the standard Sidewinder, then # RP34FR is what you are seeking.

For your Reese 16K hitch, you will need to leave the slider locked in the forward towing position and I recommend custom wedge # SWW-03. If you want to replace the slider base or sell it to recover cost, you can use the Replacement Base Legs for Reese 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch # RP30727.

You may also want to consider the wiring harness # 41157 to allow you another 7-way in the bed of your truck for easy connection access and a clean look.
