Comparing the Blue Ox Patriot and Roadmaster Even Brake Systems for a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Question:

I am looking to get either the Patriot or the Even Brake for towing my 2018 Grand Cherokee. Which one is better?

Even though the Blue Ox Patriot # BLU37TR and the Roadmaster Even Brake # RM-9400 are very similar systems I recommend using the Patriot II. It is easier to set up, uses less power so it will take much longer for this system to drain your battery, and it doesn't require the use of additional parts so that it is compatible with your vehicle. Attached are some videos that you can reference for the installation.


For a complete flat towing setup you will need a base plate kit, tow bar, safety cables, vehicle tow bar wiring, a supplemental braking system, and possibly a high-low adapter. If you do not have all of these components just let me know and I can make some additional recommendations for you.

Also, be sure to check your owner's manual for any specific instructions on flat towing your 2018 Grand Cherokee.
