Question:

Recently bought RV and contacted someone here because the linkage is broken. My concern was that something caused the linkage to break. So I was told the gear must be broken because the motor keeps running when I put power it it. However I checked all the gears and they are all in good shape. Could use some help of what else I need besides the linkage. Thank you

Before replacing the linkage, like part # LC379648, on your steps first check the gear. I spoke with my contact at Lippert who said that when the motor is continually running that means that there are teeth missing on the gear. If you have a single or double step unit then the replacement gear is part # LC301696.

I spoke with another rep from Lippert who said that if all of the gears look good but your motor keeps running that means it needs to be replaced. We do have the Step Motor Replacement Kit For Pre-IMGL # LC379608 which is for 28 Series steps.
