Installation and Operation of Furrion Observation System

Published 07/25/2018

Question:

So, does this product require anything other than connecting the camera to a power source and the viewer to a 12-volt outlet in the cab of a pickup? What are the options of connecting the camera to power, if thats needed? Eg., could it be hard-wired to a 12-volt battery inside the trailer thats being pulled? Or, could it be connected, somehow. to the trailer plug that runs between the trailer and the tow pickup? If this is possible, how might this be achieved? I recently purchased a new cable and junction box, from you, in order to rewire the power connection between the trailer and the tow pickup. Thanks.

The Furrion Digital Wireless Observation Systems like # FOS43TASF only require the 12V power connection to the camera as you stated and then a separate 12V connection to the monitor. This gives the camera and the transmitter for the wireless connection the power it needs. The monitor also plugs in to the 12V outlet in your vehicle to give the monitor and the receiver within that unit the power it needs.

The camera power can be drawn from any 12V connection. So you can connect it to your trailer battery but that would cause a constant draw as long as your battery has power. The way most people connect their camera is splicing into the running/clearance lights. You can run a wire to your junction box to draw power from the running light circuit or the 12V power circuit. I recommend using # 12-1-1 wire sold by the foot for that connection.
