Info Needed to Pick Out Replacement Bearings for Trailer

Question:
Hi, I bought a 70s gooseneck trailer and have been fixing it up to be reliable. I found water in one of the hubs so I should probably replace the bearings. The problem is I have never seen anything like these axles. They look normal because I think that someone adapted Dexter 12inch brakes and hubs to them, stamped 12X2DXQ 36-89 . From what Ive been able to find Dexter axles of similar size are 1.25inch diameter spindles on the outboard side and have cotter pins. These have 1.5inch diameter double nuts with a staked lock plate. I havent had a chance to look inside because I am waiting on a 2 1/4inch socket to arrive to take the nuts off. Does this sound like anything that was an industry standard or am I going to have to pull the bearings out and look for # to cross refence everything?

Expert Reply:
Get the hub off and get me either the diameter of the spindles where the bearings ride or the numbers stamped on the bearings. If there is a set of Dexter brake assemblies used currently there's a very good chance you have a standard hub that we'd have bearings for.
