A sway control system is not really a requirement but it is always good to have as it will help you keep the trailer under control during strong winds, curvy roads, or sudden maneuvers. The best type of sway control system for you is really going to depend on your trailer and tow vehcile.
If the trailer's gross trailer weight (GTW) is more than 50% of the vehicle's gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) then I recommend using a weight distribution system with integrated sway control. If the gross trailer weight (GTW) is not more than 50% of the vehicle's gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) then I recommend a friction sway control bar like the Reese Friction Sway Control Kit part # 83660.
In order to find the correct weight distribution system we will need to find your total tongue weight (TTW). Total tongue weight is calculated by adding the loaded ready to tow tongue weight of the trailer to any cargo stored behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle.
Once you do find your total tongue weight (TTW) then you can use the selection I have attached for you to select the correct one for your trailer. A great system to use is the Fastway e2 Weight Distribution System because it is cost effective and has two point sway control. I have attached a review video on this system for you as well.
