How to Install the Roadmaster XL Base Plate Kit Part # 477-1 on a 2004 Ford Ranger Edge

Question:
I have a 2004 Ford Ranger Edge 2dr, regular cab, 3.0 liter, 5spd manual tranny without tow hooks. The bumper fascia has not been removed. I plan to flat tow the truck behind a motorhome. I would like to know, without a doubt, if base plate kit #477-1 will work for my application. I crossed referenced the ranger forums for tow hook installations and can identify some of the mount point points used in those articles for installing OEM tow hooks on my truck. I like these particular base plates because I dont have to hack the fascia to make them work. It really is a good little truck. I referenced the installation instructions and am pretty good with IPBs. Without a reference to the truck mount points, I cannot understand how the horizontal bolts 3 and 14 pass through the bumper rail to meet the other side. Bolt reference 1 also doesnt make sense. It doesnt seem to pass through anything. I look forward to hearing back from you soon and getting this project started. Thanks,

The Roadmaster XL Base Plate Kit part # 477-1 is indeed a confirmed fit for your 2004 Ford Ranger Edge. I looked up some photos online and compared them to the install instructions for the this kit. From my understanding, the base plate kit brackets sandwich the bumper support and use pre drilled holes like the ones that are present for your tow hooks once they have been removed.
Now, I understand you are a bit skeptical about fitment but the majority of the holes will not be revealed until the bumper cover is removed. Once you have done so you will be able to see the pre-drilled holes that the horizontal bolts slide though and into the other side to hold the plates in place.
Unfortunately, I don't have any actual photos or a video of the above process. I can however confirmed that they are a direct fit for the Edge edition.
