Question:

I am interested in this product as I would like to extend my current valve by about three to 4 inches only. 9inch would be too much additional length I think. Perhaps if I understood how they are installed I would understand better whether it would suit my needs. My thoughts are that it is screwed onto the existing rod by removing the existing handle. Does it increase the current length by a full 9? Thanks,

The Valterra Waste Valve Extension Tube # TX9HPB installs by simply threading onto the valve shaft as you can see in the accompanying photo; it replaces your current handle so that 9 inch measurement would be from the top of the valve shaft.

There are slightly shorter ones you can get, the # TX8HPB, which is an 8" extension, or the # T1046-12VP, which is a kit that has a pair of adjustable rods, including one that can be as short as 6". I've added links to video reviews of both parts for you to take a look at.
