Question:

I purchased a class I trailer hitch. It says the max tounge weight is 200lb and max towing weight is 2000lb. Is the angle of the road factored into this? For example if I park on an inclined hill or drive up or down a steep hill to get to my destination. I know that the weight changes drastically on an incline and Im more worried about the change in tounge weight due to incline than the max towing weight. 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt

I was able to find your order and your Curt Class I Trailer Hitch Receiver # C11430 is rated for the torque on your hitch in all driving conditions including inclines. Please make sure you are using the required Curt Trailer Hitch Support Strap # 18050 which is adjustable for your applications.

While this does not increase your 200 lb tongue weight or your 2,000 lb trailer hitch rating, but will help stabilize the load of an accessory like a bike rack or cargo carrier. When towing a trailer the weight is already further stabilized due to the trailer width and weight dispersion.
