Question:

Hi, I have a 2009 Kia Borrego that has a tow package installed. I have a 6foot utility trailer that I would like to mate up with the Borrego. The mount opening on the Borrego is 2inch square inside measurement and is 16inch off the ground to the bottom of the mount, ~16.5inch to the inside of the mount opening. The trailer has a 2inch ball hitch and that hitch sits ~12inch off the ground when the trailer is level. I think I need: 1. the wiring harness Code: C55384 that goes into the wiring harness plug already installed on the undercarriage of the Borrego 2. a step-down ball mount unsure of your part number and 3. a 2inch hitch ball. But Im not exactly sure thats all I need or if Ive missed something in my measurements. Can you provide guidance? thanks,

Starting with the trailer wiring harness, if your Kia Borrego is equipped with the factory 7-Way connector, the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness # C55384 that you referenced is the correct part. This custom harness will plug right into the built-in harness located behind the rear bumper. You will simply plug the harness in-line with the existing 7-Way. This will provide you with a 4-Way connector that will connect with and power your utility trailer's basic signal lights.

Otherwise, if there is not already a 7-Way connector at the rear if your Borrego, you will instead want the Curt T-Connector # C56184. This is also a custom harness that will install by connecting to the built-in ports located behind the driver and passenger side tail lights.

I have included the written installation instructions for both harnesses that you can review.

Then, based on your measurements (thank you!), you are needing a ball mount that features a drop of around 4-1/2 inches. For this, I recommend the Draw-Tite Ball Mount # 2753 along with the 2 Inch Ball # 63845. This sturdy steel ball mount features a drop of 4 inches or a rise of 2-3/4 inches. We do not currently have a ball mount available with a 4-1/2 inch drop so this will be your best option. It features a towing capacity of 7,500 pounds. I also recommend adding a hitch lock like our etrailer.com lock # e98880 to help deter theft.
