Question:

Just purchased a Keystone Cougar 1/2 Ton and have a Nissan Titan XD with 61/2foot bed. Can I use the Demco Recon Gooseneck-to-5th Wheel Trailer Hitch Adapter - Single Jaw - 21,000 lbs Item # DM8550045 with a Reese Airborne Sidewinder.

The Demco Recon, part # DM8550045 that you referenced cannot be used with rotating pin boxes like Sidewinders so if the trailer you just bought has a Sidewinder you'd need to lock it out so that you can use a slider hitch.

You will first need to make sure the wedge at the bottom of the Sidewinder is removed so it can pivot at the hitch. Then you will look under the turret. There will be 2 bolts or just bolt holes. These holes are for two 3/4 inch grade 5 bolts and nuts and will prevent the turret from rotating. Take a look at the instructions I have linked on page 6 for more on the lock out feature.

So then you'd need a slider hitch to fit your 2017 Nissan Titan XD short bed with the factory gooseneck hitch.

For that you'd want the Demco Hijacker part # DM8550034 which will slide back as you make tight turns eliminating the need for you to have to get out and activate a slider mechanism and then also the Demco rail adapter part # DM6200 to convert the hitch ball in the bed of your truck to a rail system compatible with this hitch.
