Question:

Will this wheel mount rack work with cruisers that have fenders. My local bike shop says just put the clamp over the fender and against the brake, but I am skeptical.

The Kuat Sherpa 2.0 2-Bike Platform Rack # SH22G is designed to hold the bike in place by clamping down on the front tire. This compresses the tire slightly for the best fit and security. Although it can be clamped over a fender, that is not ideal as it can bend the fender and won't hold the bike as securely. I reached out to my contact at Kuat and he said you can clamp over the fender, but they recommend putting an old tire tube or a piece of pool noodle between the fender and the tire so you are able to clamp tight without damaging your fender.

For other options designed to work with your cruiser style bikes, you can use the Saris Freedom 2 Bike Platform Rack # SA4412B which allows for a frame mount. I've attached a video to assist.
