Question:

We recommend using the Curt Echo # C51180 brake controller for your 2013 Mercedes-Benz GL350. This is a wireless brake controller (controlled via smart phone) that plugs into the 7-Way on your GL350 and applies the brakes on your trailer in proportion to how much your GL350 is slowing down via the inertia sensor. Using a lamp-out sensor like the part # 20142 may be needed to draw enough power for the Echo.
If you don't have a 7-Way on your GL350 then you first need a 4-Way like the Kit # C59496. Once this is installed (or if you already have a 4-Way) you then need to install the Upgrade Wiring Kit # ETBC7. This will give you the 7-Way functions that the Echo requires to operate.
You can try installing a brake controller like the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 # 90195 but we have found it difficult to locate the wire associated with the cold side of the stop light switch. This is the wire that only gets hot when the brake pedal is pressed and tells the brake controller to send power back to your trailer brakes.
I have attached some videos and helpful articles that you can reference for the installation of these products.
